I wish they would add a plastic tip and boat tail to increase the ballistic coefficient, but that would make it too costly. Even so, I’m still fond of their partitions!

Wow, I have had tons of luck hunting white-tailed deer with the biggest gun I’ve used is a .338 Winchester Magnum loaded with 200-grain Ballistic Tip bullets. The longest shot taken was at 440 yards and they only took one step after being hit! Any reputable caliber coupled with accurately placed soft-point ammo will take them down with no problem. Moose are quite possibly even easier kills while Elk can be slightly more challenging but my trusty 270 Winchester chambered in 130-grain ammunition has never let me down yet! To ensure ethical harvests, I always try to avoid taking Texas heart shots when possible.

How do you control the speed of the bullet?

Shannon Smith
Editor
Reply to  998uiio

⭕️ The 300 Remington Ultra Magnum has a maximum pressure of 65,000 psi and can produce muzzle velocities over 3,500 feet per second. This is significantly faster than many other ammunitions on the market, making it important to understand how to control this speed.

1️⃣ One way to control the speed is by using ammunition with different ballistic coefficients (BC). Ammunition with higher BC values will have slower speeds and travel further distances before hitting its target while ammunition with lower BC values will do just the opposite. accurately than lighter bullets making them another factor to consider when trying to control 300 Remington Ultra Magnum ammo speed.

2️⃣ Another way to control the speed is by using a slower burning powder. This will help to keep the pressure in the chamber under control and prevent the bullet from traveling too fast. In addition, using a slower burning powder can also help to improve accuracy as it will give the bullet more time to stabilize before it exits the barrel.

When I’ve gone hunting for elk and bear, I have had an extraordinary performance with the 196 Norma Oryx Ammunition from an 8X57 Mauser. In fact, it is probably the most reliable bullet that can be used in an 8mm rifle!

my trusty .22 can easily take down a deer with only one shot – if it’s up to the task, then I have no doubt that any .300 RUM will be just as successful. lol

My buddy and I love to shoot together, especially with his 300 Ultra. We adore Nosler Partitions in particular, and it’s become our go-to bullet for hunting loads. Hodgdon Powder also offers a phenomenal on-site loading manual filled with various load options that are perfect for us — like the 180-grain NosPartition loaded with 87 grains of H4831 (the minimum is 84 while the max is 89). With this combination, we can frequently reach 3100 fps precisely.

My rifle is loaded with the 175-grain Berger bullet, and I’m using 98.5g of Retumbo powder as the propellant. At one hundred yards, my shots are consistently within an inch or less!

In my rifle, the 200 gr Accubond and 95.5 gr of Retumbo are performing exceptionally well. I’ve also had success with 208 gr A-Max when seated out long, however, these bullets are somewhat too lengthy and pointed to be able to fit in mags properly.

🔵 300 Remington Ultra Magnum ammo is a great choice for target shooting when you need extra power and accuracy. It provides superior performance, with higher velocities and greater energy delivery than other 300 magnum cartridges. ☑️ This makes it especially suitable for long-range target shooting, allowing shooters to consistently hit targets at further distances.

For some of the most reliable hunting bullet weights, I always opt for heavy. After utilizing 180gr SP Core-Lokts in my .30-06 rifle for several years with incredible success, I decided to switch it up and try out 180gr PSP – which still worked wonderfully! These bullets left huge holes without destroying a lot of meat on whitetail deer within 200 yards away. All this proves that no bones can stop these ultra-powerful rounds; giving me peace of mind each time I go out into the field.
