What is Buffer Tube? 🔍
This is a component of a firearm or rifle that is used to house the recoil spring and buffer assembly. The buffer tube is typically located at the rear of the firearm and is attached to the lower receiver of the firearm.
Features 💎
🔸 Typically made of aluminum or polymer material. |
🔸 Comes in different lengths to accommodate different types of buttstocks. |
🔸 Threaded at the end to attach a castle nut and receiver end plate. |
🔸 May have a dimpled surface to prevent the castle nut from backing out. |
🔸 May have an indexing point to ensure proper alignment of the buttstock. |
Benefits💣
🔹 Provides a secure and stable location to house the recoil spring and buffer assembly | 🔹 Helps to absorb and mitigate recoil, making the firearm more comfortable and controllable to shoot |
🔹 Reduces the overall length of the firearm by allowing the buttstock to be attached directly to the buffer tube | 🔹 Allows for quick and easy installation and removal of the buttstock, making it more versatile and easy to transport. |
🔹 Enables the user to customize the length and type of buttstock to fit their individual needs and preferences |
Mil-Spec vs. Commercial Buffer Tubes ⚖️
🎎 Mil-Spec and commercial buffer tubes are two different types that are commonly used in firearms.
✔️ Mil-Spec buffer tubes are made to strict military specifications and are used by the US military and law enforcement agencies.
📏 They have a diameter of 1.148 inches and have a slightly thicker wall compared to commercial. 🔘 Mil-Spec tubes have a smooth surface without any external markings. |
✔️ Commercial, on the other hand, are designed for civilian use and are made to less stringent specifications.
📏 They have a diameter of 1.168 inches and have a thinner wall compared to Mil-Spec. 🔘 Commercial – may have external markings and a textured surface. |
♻️ The primary difference between them is
- ➔ their compatibility with other components of the firearm. ➔ Mil-Spec are only compatible with Mil-Spec buttstocks, while commercial are only compatible with commercial buttstocks. 🛑 Mixing and matching Mil-Spec and commercial buffer tubes and buttstocks can lead to compatibility issues and may cause malfunctions.
🔔 In summary, while Mil-Spec and commercial tubes may look similar, they are designed for different applications and have different compatibility requirements. ⚠️ It is important to choose the appropriate buffer tube for your firearm to ensure proper function and reliability.

Just like everyone else, I started out with the OG SB brace. Nowadays, it’s chillin’ on my Mossberg Shockwave. I rocked the KAK Shockwave braces for a hot minute, probably a couple of years or so. I still have like 4 or 5 of them lying around. Then I got my hands on the SB-mini, which I threw on my Glock 17 MOS. But I gotta say, my absolute fave so far has gotta be the SBA3. I got it about five months ago, and it’s still holding up strong. That QD mount is in the perfect spot for me, so I think I’m gonna stick with it.
As for me, the SBA4 and Tailhook Mod 2 braces are the top choices among available brace options
Yeap, my love is the Tailhook Mod 1 and SBPDW braces, with the latter being my top choice due to its exceptional performance. If you haven’t had the chance to try it out, I highly recommend it, despite its relatively high price point. I also find the Doublestar Strongarm to be an excellent option, as it is made entirely of aluminum, is compact, has a low profile, and features a QD cup on all four sides
Guys, I would recommend trying out the Tailhook Mod 2 pistol brace, as it is a more robust option that does not require the use of Velcro. It has become my go-to choice for all of my builds, and I prefer it over other brace options.
Hey, will the short buffer work with an 8.5-inch 300blk setup?
✅ It is possible that the short buffer will work with an 8.5-inch 300blk setup, ⚠️ but the optimal buffer length may depend on several factors such as the weight of the bolt carrier group, gas system length, and ammunition used.
🔰 In general, a shorter buffer is typically used with shorter barrel lengths and pistol-length gas systems to ensure proper function and reduce recoil.
🔔 However, it is always recommended to consult the manufacturer’s specifications and recommendations for your specific setup to ensure proper function and safety.
In my experience, the KAK shockwave is pretty dope, especially for a minimalistic or PDW setup. The only issue I’ve had is that it can be a bit tricky to adjust, and if you’re not careful, you might accidentally yank it off the tube completely while fiddling with it. The SBA3, on the other hand, doesn’t have any of these problems and uses a regular carbine tube (although some folks might argue that it could be a legal issue – but hey, that’s on the manufacturers since they sold it for use on pistol carbine tubes). Overall, I’d say the SBA3 is the better choice.
I got the buffer tube from Strikes Industries and it’s dope! Looks sick and performs like a champ. Works even better with the enhanced end plate and fixed stabilizer. It was worth waiting for, glad I snagged it.
Strikes Industries is advancing in the 2A community!
Hey there! Can you tell me what barrel length and pressure the buffer tubes from Strikes Industries can handle without any issues? And what gas tube length should be used with them? Thanks!
📢 We recommend you consult the product manual or reach out to Strikes Industries’ customer support for specific information on the barrel length and pressure their buffer tubes can handle without any issues, as well as the recommended gas tube length to be used with them.
✅ They should be able to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding their products.
I’ve been using the Bravo company buffer tube for several months now. works perfectly. easy to install and has noticeably reduced recoil, I would buy it again without hesitations.
why nobody mentions the Hogue buffer tube? it is super great. I’m really satisfied with the performance
Guuuuuuys< does buffer tube length matter?
⭕️ Yes, buffer tube length can matter for proper function and compatibility with your specific firearm setup.
⚠️ It is important to note that using the wrong buffer tube length can cause compatibility issues, affect the reliability of your firearm, and potentially cause safety issues.
