How to mount Ruger 10/22 Sights? 🔧

Mounting Ruger 10 22 sights is relatively straightforward:

  • 1️⃣ Begin by ensuring your rifle is unloaded and that the safety is in the “ON” position.
  • 2️⃣ Unscrew the two screws on the sides of the receiver to remove the factory-installed scope rings. Both should come off together as one piece.
  • 3️⃣ Once removed, separate them by unscrewing each screw holding them together from their respective sides of the receiver.

Next, you will need a sight mounting tool designed for Ruger 10/22s fitted with dovetail front sights:

  • 4️⃣ Place the sight into its mount and then insert it into your rifle’s dovetail slot until it fits securely in place, being careful not to force it.
  • 5️⃣ Once the sight is in place, use the mounting tool to tighten the screws so that your rifle will be properly scoped and ready for target shooting.
  • 6️⃣ Finally, adjust the sight according to your desired accuracy.

📢 You may follow the video while installing:

By following these steps carefully, you’ll have your rifle properly mounted with its sight!

FAQ 🤔

Which are better red or green dots?
Red or green dot sights are a matter of preference. Some people prefer red dots because they are easier to see in low-light conditions. Green dots may be easier to see in bright light conditions. Ultimately, it is up to the shooter to decide which color they prefer.
What is the best magnification for a Ruger 10 22 sight?
If you are looking for a sight to help with long-range shooting, then a higher magnification would be beneficial. However, if you are only going to be using your Ruger 10 22 for close-range shooting, then a lower magnification would suffice. It comes down to personal preference and what you feel most comfortable with.
What should I zero my red dot?
When zeroing your sight, you should aim at a distance of 25 yards. This is because the Ruger 10 22 has a relatively short barrel and a relatively low velocity, so aiming at longer distances will not provide accurate results.

1️⃣ Before you begin zeroing your sight, make sure it is mounted securely and that the sights are properly aligned with one another.

2️⃣ Once your sights are secured, you can start to adjust the elevation and windage settings until your point of aim matches up with the point of impact on paper targets.

✔️Keep in mind that these sights have shorter eye relief than most red dots so be sure to give yourself enough room for comfortable shooting when aiming.

📢 Learn the video to get more information:

🔴 If you are having difficulty zeroing your Ruger 10 22 Sight, try using a bore sight to get the closest possible accuracy before making any adjustments. You may also want to consider investing in an electronic bore sight which allows you to fine-tune your sight without having to make manual adjustments.

What is the best brand of Ruger 10 22 sights?
There are many brands of Ruger 10 22 sights on the market. Some of the more popular brands include Williams, Nikon, and Bushnell.

It is better to do your research to find the sight that best meets your needs.

Are Ruger 10 22 sights adjustable?
Yes, they are adjustable. Ruger 10/22s come factory equipped with iron sights that can be adjusted for windage and elevation. They feature an integral rear sight that is adjustable for both elevation and windage, as well as a front sight post that is adjustable for elevation only. Additionally, Ruger offers various models that come with pre-installed optics, such as scopes or red dot sights, which are also adjustable.

Are expensive sights worth the cost?

Shannon Smith

Reply to  Ellis

When choosing a sight for your 10/22, you have to weigh the cost against features and quality.
🔵 Expensive sights typically offer better features than lower-priced ones and are usually more reliable.
🔴 However, cheaper sights can be just as effective at hitting targets and may be suitable if cost is an issue.

Hi, I’d like you to help me because I’m a novice user in here.
How do I choose between different sight types? My purpose is hunting.
Thank you for the reply!

Shannon Smith

Reply to  Jill Hoipp

When it comes to Ruger 10 22 sights, the type that you choose will be largely determined by the type of hunting that you plan on doing:

🔷 Aperture sights are best for hunters who want to take more precise shots at medium or long ranges. This type of sight features a rear sight with a multiple-sized opening and a front sight that fits inside the rear one.

🔷 Open sights, on the other hand, are best for close-range shooting or shotgunning. They feature a rear sight with a single aperture and a front sight that is usually made of metal or plastic. These sights don’t offer as much precision as aperture sights, but they do provide good accuracy when hunting in thick brush or at close distances.

🔷 Finally, scopes optics are best for target shooters who need to aim accurately at long-range targets. They typically feature an adjustable objective lens that can be set to various magnifications depending on the type of game you’re hunting.

No, you don’t necessarily need to purchase new sights even if your gun already has one. If your existing sight is in good condition and meets your shooting needs, there’s no reason to replace it with another sight.
