I have been considering using Williams Peep sights on my SKS as an alternative to the stock sights. I’m curious to know if they’re a substantial improvement over the factory sights and what the sight picture looks like. I’m also wondering if having the peep sight so far forward is awkward compared to Tech Sights.
I use this Williams Gun Sight Fire Sight Peep Set, and it works exceptionally well for me. The rear peep sight is very open, which makes it effortless to acquire targets. Additionally, the front fiber sight is fantastic and helps with accurate aiming. One thing to note is that this peep sight is more suitable for medium-range shooting because of how open the rear peep is. However, overall, I find it to be an excellent sight.
One of the best things about these peep sights is how adjustable they are. I had no issues sighting in my firearms perfectly, and I didn’t need to drill or tap anything. Overall, I’m very pleased with these sights.
I own this Williams Gun Sight Fire Sight Peep Set. Unfortunately, I lost the little screw-in piece that adjusts the hole size, but I didn’t find it necessary for ranges less than 100 anyway. The front fiber post is very easy to see, which is a definite plus.
I have a receiver-mount peep sight installed on my firearm, along with a 2-screw 3/4″ dovetail scope mount. I removed the scope mount to create more clearance for the Williams Firesights Green Rear Red Front, but unfortunately, the screws for the mount won’t sit flush on the receiver. I’m curious about how the rear sight on the 39A is mounted. Is it in a dovetail? If it is, I’ve heard that there are dovetail blanks available that can be filed and contoured to match the barrel. Once that’s done, cold bluing can be used to finish the job.
I found out that the rear sight on my 39A is not in a dovetail; instead, it has tabs that fit into a slot. I think it might be spring steel that’s pushing out, so I’ll have to squeeze it to remove it. Alternatively, it could be bent in, so I might need to pull it off.
I’m in search of peep sights that would be suitable for my 10/22, which I plan to use for 50-yard steel shoots. I’m hoping to find a set of sights that will help improve my accuracy and make it easier for me to acquire targets quickly.
