Glock 19 Compensator

What is Glock Compensator? 🔍

A Glock compensator is a device that attaches to the end of a Glock pistol barrel to redirect gas and reduce recoil, allowing for faster and more accurate follow-up shots. The compensator typically consists of a series of vents or ports that redirect gas upward, counteracting the muzzle rise that occurs when the gun is fired. This helps keep the gun on target, making it easier to shoot accurately and quickly.

What are the types of Glock Compensators? 🔢

There are several types of Glock compensators available on the market. Here are some of the most common types:

1️⃣ Barrel Ported Compensators ⟹ attach directly to the barrel of the Glock and typically have multiple ports on the top and sides to redirect gas and reduce recoil.
2️⃣ Slide-Mounted Compensators ⟹ attach to the slide of the Glock and are designed to work with a specific slide cut. They typically have a single large port on the top to redirect gas and reduce recoil.
3️⃣ Frame-Mounted Compensators ⟹ attach to the frame of the Glock and work by redirecting gas through ports in the frame. They are less common than barrel-ported or slide-mounted compensators.
4️⃣ Hybrid Compensators ⟹ are a combination of two or more of the above types, offering additional benefits such as improved accuracy or reduced muzzle flash.
5️⃣ Threaded Barrels ⟹ some shooters opt to use a threaded barrel instead of a separate compensator. Threaded barrels allow the use of muzzle devices such as compensators, flash hiders, or suppressors.

⚠️ It’s important to research and choose a compensator that is designed for your specific Glock model.

Glock Compensator Myths❌ and Facts ✅

Here are some myths and facts about Glock compensators:

Myth: Compensators reduce accuracy.

Fact: Compensators are designed to improve accuracy by reducing recoil and muzzle rise, making it easier to keep the gun on target. While some shooters may need time to adjust to the feel of a compensated Glock, overall accuracy should not suffer.

Myth: Compensators are only useful for competition shooting.

Fact: While Glock compensators are popular among competitive shooters, they can also be useful for law enforcement, military personnel, or anyone who wants to improve their shooting speed and accuracy. In fact, some compensators are designed specifically for tactical use, with reduced muzzle flash and improved durability.

Glock Compensator

FAQ 🤔

Does a compensator help Glock?
✅ Adding a compensator to a Glock pistol can help reduce felt recoil and muzzle flip, which can make it easier to control and shoot more accurately.

📌 However, whether or not a compensator “helps” Glock ultimately depends on the individual shooter’s preferences and needs:

  • 🤷🏻 Some shooters may find that a compensator helps them shoot faster and more accurately, while others may not notice much of a difference or may even find that it adds unnecessary weight and bulk to their firearm.
Do compensators increase noise?
🔊 Yes, compensators can increase the noise level of a firearm when it is fired. 💬 This is because a compensator redirects some of the gases that are expelled when a bullet is fired, which can create a louder muzzle blast.

⚠️ However, the extent to which a compensator increases noise can depend on a variety of factors, including the type of compensator, the caliber of the firearm, and the specific load of ammunition being used.

Do compensators reduce muzzle velocity?
✅ In general, compensators can reduce muzzle velocity to some extent. This is because a compensator redirects some of the gases that are expelled when a bullet is fired, which can reduce the amount of gas that propels the bullet out of the barrel.

  • 〽️ However, the reduction in muzzle velocity caused by a compensator is usually small and may not be noticeable to most shooters.
How do I choose the best compensator for my Glock?
There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the best compensator for your Glock pistol:

1️⃣ One is the size of the device.

  • 🔸 Make sure to choose a compensator that is the right size for your gun.

2️⃣ Another thing to keep in mind is the purpose you are using the compensator for.

  • 🔸 If you are looking to improve accuracy, then you will want to choose a compensator with more ports or baffles.
  • 🔸 If you are looking to reduce felt recoil, then you will want to choose a compensator with fewer ports or baffles.
Do compensators hide flash?
⭕️ Compensators are not designed to hide flash, but they can sometimes have the unintended effect of reducing muzzle flash to some extent.

Conclusion 🔔

So, there you have it – the top picks for the Best Glock Compensators. We hope that this article has helped to clear up some of the common questions about compensators and given you a better understanding of what to look for when choosing one for your Glock. Thanks for reading! 🤠

Can the addition of a compensator at the end of a barrel affect factors such as aiming time, mobility, fatigue, or others?

Shannon Smith
Editor
Reply to  J Lo

🛑 It can increase the weight of the firearm, making it slightly more difficult to move around and potentially causing fatigue over time.

🔔 On the other hand, compensators are designed to help reduce recoil and muzzle rise, which can improve accuracy and speed up follow-up shots.

📌 So, while adding weight to the end of the barrel may have some negative effects on handling, the compensator may provide some benefits that could offset those negatives.

I’m amazed at how effective the T-Comp is – it’s definitely the top choice on the market! The significant reduction in muzzle flip is absolutely incredible, and I can’t wait to test it out after purchasing it along with a threaded barrel for my 43x.

I’m contemplating getting a TiN match barrel and sending my compensator back for cerakoting to match. By the way, how does the color of the cerakote hold up on the compensator?

Shannon Smith
Editor
Reply to  98easented

🔐 In general, a properly applied and cured cerakote finish can hold up very well against wear, corrosion, and fading. It is also resistant to chipping, peeling, and cracking, which makes it a popular choice for high-performance applications.
🛑 However, like any coating or finish, cerakote can be damaged or worn down over time, especially if the surface is subjected to harsh conditions, abrasion, or impact.

I have a Fauxland Special build on a Gen 4 G19, equipped with a Primary Machine Stealth compensator and I’ve been using 115g range ammo. However, it appears that the gun is short-stroking, resulting in issues such as FTE, double feeds, and stovepipes. Do you have any suggestions for a solution, such as replacing the recoil spring with a reduced-weight one?

So far, I’ve only been shooting 115gr plinking ammo without any issues. However, if you’re experiencing short-stroking, you could try using a lighter recoil spring, although I should note that I’m currently using stock internals, except for a Ghost connector.

What’s the exact length of the AA 417 compensator? Also, does it make the 43 as long as the 48 or longer? I’m curious whether a 48-holster would be suitable for it.

Shannon Smith
Editor
Reply to  ghy904r

📐 The AA 417 compensator is approximately 1.27 inches in length. When installed on the Glock 43, the compensator will add some additional length to the end of the barrel, ⚠️ but it will not make the overall length of the firearm equivalent to the longer Glock 48 model.

📢 The Glock 43 has a barrel length of approximately 3.41 inches, while the Glock 48 has a barrel length of approximately 4.17 inches. ➜ When the AA 417 compensator is installed on the Glock 43, the total length of the firearm will depend on the length of the barrel and the compensator combined, as well as any other modifications that may have been made.

🔔 However, it is unlikely that the addition of the compensator will make the Glock 43 as long as the Glock 48, as the latter has a longer slide and frame in addition to a longer barrel.

I’ve recently acquired a Steyr M9 A1, which was designed by a former Glock engineer. The gun’s low bore axis, perfect fit, and remarkably flat shooting performance have truly impressed me.
