How to unlock trigger lock?

Martin Mapa Answered question September 9, 2022

Trigger locks are used to prevent accidental firing of a firearm and require a specific sequence of movement to release the safety mechanism. Depending on the make and model of your trigger lock, the steps necessary to unlock it may vary. However, most trigger locks follow a similar pattern of operation.

The following steps will guide you through the unlocking process for most trigger locks:

  1. Find the keyhole on the lock and insert the key.
  2. Turn the key until it clicks.
  3. Pull back on the tab or lever located above or below the keyhole.
  4. Remove the gun from the lock.

If you are still having difficulty unlocking your trigger lock, consult your firearm’s owner’s manual or contact the manufacturer for more specific instructions.

Or here’s another way:

You can unlock a trigger lock in more than one way.

One way is to use the key that came with the lock.

Another way is to use a paper clip or metal wire to push in the small hole on the back of the lock and turn it clockwise.

A third way, for locks with a number dial, is to turn the dial left until it clicks and then turn it right until it clicks again. The last number will be the one that is pushed in to unlock the trigger lock.

There are a few ways to unlock a trigger lock, depending on the model. Some models have a key that must be inserted into a keyhole and turned. Others have a combination that must be entered into a keypad. Still others have a thumb lever that must be pushed up or down.

Trigger locks are designed to be opened with a key. To unlock the trigger lock on your firearm, insert the key into the lock and turn it until the lock pops open. Then, pull back on the cocking handle to release the gun and remove the key.
