What is an appendix holster? 🧐
✴️ It is a popular style of holster for carrying handguns inside the waistband (IWB). This type of holster is designed to be worn in front of the wearer, typically at the appendix position. Appendix holsters offer enhanced concealment and improved comfort when compared to traditional IWB designs.
Features 🔥
Appendix holsters provide a convenient and easily accessible way to carry a firearm. These holsters are typically designed to be worn in the front of the body, enabling quicker access than traditional hip or thigh holsters.
- ❇️ One of the most common features is the adjustable cant angle, which allows you to customize the angle at which your gun rides relative to your body. Adjustable cant angles can range from zero degrees (straight up and down) up to 15 degrees or more.
- ❇️ Many such holsters are available with adjustable ride height features, allowing you to raise or lower the holster’s position on your body so that it rides snugly against your waistline.
- ❇️ Another important feature is adjustable retention settings so that you can customize how much tension is required when drawing your gun from its holster.
- ❇️ The materials used in construction – are heavy-duty polymer shells, durable Kydex material, and sturdy belt clips that won’t let go under strenuous activity or sudden movements.
Benefits 💡
Adding an appendix holster to your everyday carry equipment can provide several benefits.
- ✨ It allows for quick and easy access to your handgun when you need it most. It is designed to be worn inside the waistband of your pants, which gives you maximum concealment while still allowing you to draw quickly if necessary.
- ✨ Not only that, but a holster also allows for greater comfort than traditional side-holstered designs.
- ✨ The off-body positioning keeps the weight of your weapon out of the way and reduces pressure along the hip line that can occur with more conventional holsters.
- ✨ Furthermore, when using an such holster, you can use more comfortable clothing such as athletic shorts and tank tops without having to worry about printing or bulging from carrying a firearm.
How to choose? 🔍
When it comes to choosing the best appendix holster, there are a few key factors to consider.
- 🔶 The most important factor is comfort – you want a holster that comfortably fits your body type and allows for easy and quick access.
- 🔶 It’s important to consider the materials and construction of the holster. The quality of the material used in its construction will affect both durability as well as comfortability, so make sure to research which materials are best suited for your needs.
- 🔶 When looking at different options available in the holster, make sure to look for features such as adjustable retention and adjustable cant to help you get the most out of your holster.
😉 With these factors in mind, you should be able to find the best holster that is right for you!

How to appendix carry? 🤠
✴️ When it comes to appendix carry, the most important thing is getting into a comfortable and safe position. To do so, your gun must be properly positioned between the hip bone and belt line.
🟣 Your holster’s ride height is also an important factor that determines how your holster will feel when worn on the body. The higher the ride height of your appendix holster, the more comfortable it will be when tucked under your belt line.
🟣 Once you find a comfortable and safe position, practice drawing from the holster until you are confident in the secure fit.
👍 With the right holster in hand, you will be able to access your firearm quickly in any situation and have peace of mind knowing that you are practicing safe gun handling practices.

Hi there, I’m in search of the most comfortable appendix holster that comes with a sidecar for an extra magazine. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
In my opinion, sidecar holsters aren’t worth it. It’s better to run a separate holster and mag carrier unless you need them attached. I’ve heard that sidecar holsters tend to crack or split.
From my experience, there are many great holsters for appendix carry that share similar features. In my opinion, a good appendix holster should have the following characteristics:
Firstly, it should have “zero can’t” or a slight reverse cant, which means that the barrel of the gun is straight up and down, allowing for a proper firing grip without turning your wrist unnaturally. Secondly, it should provide complete coverage of the trigger guard with solid material on both sides. Thirdly, it should strike the right balance of retention – tight enough to keep the gun from falling out in a scuffle but still allowing for a quick draw. Fourthly, it should have a secure attachment to your belt. Many clips don’t attach securely, but soft loops always stay on and can be an inexpensive fix to replace bad clips. Fifthly, it should have a “claw” or equivalent feature to aid in concealment. The grip of the gun can often rotate outward and become visible underneath a shirt, but a claw will keep it oriented correctly.
These are the key features I look for in an appendix holster, and I hope it helps others in their search for the perfect holster.
I have found that AIWB holsters often have limited options for compatible firearms, which is a major issue for me. I’m currently looking for a mid to full-size firearm, but my choices are quickly narrowing down because of the limited availability of AIWB holster options. It’s frustrating to have a specific carry preference but feel restricted in my firearm options because of it.
I’ve been having trouble finding a comfortable carry position and holster for my Glock 19. The only position I’ve had some success with is AIWB carry, but even that can be pretty painful and uncomfortable due to printing issues. However, I still think it might be the best solution for me. I was hoping you all could recommend the most comfortable AIWB holsters you’ve personally used since I’m thinking about trying one more before giving up and switching to a smaller carry gun.
In my experience, I’ve found that no carry position is really “comfortable” per se. It’s more a matter of getting used to it over time. One thing that’s helped me is going up a pants size or belt notch, so there’s a bit more room for the gun to move with me. I’ve been carrying for years, and while I still find it annoying at times and occasionally get poked in the wrong place when sitting in a vehicle, I’ve gotten used to it. As for holster recommendations, I’ve heard good things about belly bands being comfortable, but I haven’t tried them myself.
I find that carrying a gun should provide a sense of comfort, even if it’s not the most comfortable experience. I carry a P365XL in a Sig Sauer Appendix Carry Holster and was able to drive for 10 hours without experiencing any significant discomfort.
I may be unusual, but I have recently discovered that it is much more comfortable for me to carry a full-size handgun in the AIWB (Appendix Inside the Waistband) position, compared to smaller firearms. I have found that the longer the barrel, the more comfortable the carry, up to about 5.5 inches. In contrast, with shorter-barreled guns, I have to either use a longer holster or tighten my belt to the point where it causes discomfort.
I’m considering getting the new holster for my P365XL. However, I’m not sure if the holster will make my already slim gun bulkier. I would appreciate any thoughts or recommendations on this.
In my experience, the holster needs to be longer than P365 for optimal comfort and concealment. When the holster is longer, it prevents the grip of the firearm from tipping out over my belt and allows the muzzle to rest comfortably along my pelvis rather than pressing into it. I’ve noticed that with shorter holsters, my P365 tends to tilt away from my body, which can be uncomfortable and make it harder to conceal.
