FAQ 🤔
How to choose the scope for a 308?
There are a few things to consider when deciding which type of scope is right for you:
1️⃣ First, think about what type of shooting you will be doing most often.
🔹 If you plan on doing a lot of long-range shooting, then a higher magnification scope will be necessary.
🔸 However, if you only plan on doing some plinking at the range, then a lower magnification scope will suffice.
2️⃣ Next, take into account the different features that each type of scope offers.
🔹 Fixed power scopes are typically less expensive than variable power scopes and offer a wider field of view.
🔸 Variable power scopes allow you to zoom in on your target but can be more difficult to keep on target at higher magnifications.
3️⃣ Finally, consider the size and weight of the scope. Scopes can range from small to larger:
🔹 Lightweight models that are easy to carry around to larger.
🔸Heavier models that can be more difficult to transport.
⭕️ Keep in mind that a larger scope will also require a larger mounting system, which can add to the overall cost of the scope.
📽 We hope the video can help you:
What is the best scope to mount on an AR10?
The best scopes for an AR10 depend on what you plan to use the rifle for:
💣 If you plan on using your AR10 for hunting, then you will want a scope that is specifically designed for hunting. 🔍Some of the best scopes for hunting are made by companies like Nikon, Leupold, and Bushnell. These companies make high-quality scopes that will help you make accurate shots.
💣 If it will be used for target shooting, then you will want a different type of scope. Scopes designed for target shooting have different features than scopes designed for hunting. 🔍 Some of the best are made by Vortex.
What is Moa on a scope?
Moa on a scope is an adjustment made to the reticle of the scope. It stands for “minutes of angle” and is used to make small adjustments to the point of aim of the scope. These adjustments are made to ensure that the point of impact of the bullet hits the target at the desired location.
Moa on a scope is typically measured in 1/4 or 1/8 increments:
⚫️ Scopes with larger moa values will have a wider field of view, making them better suited for long-range shooting.
⚫️ Scopes with smaller moa values will have a narrower field of view, making them better suited for close-range shooting.
What are the best scopes for 308?
The best scopes for 308 will depend on your individual needs and preferences:
⚙️ For long-range shooting ➝ a scope with a large moa value will be your best bet.
⚙️ For close-range shooting ➝ a scope with a smaller moa value fits best.
Ultimately, the best scope for you is the one that allows you to hit your target accurately and consistently.
How should I clean the scope for 308?
🔍 To clean the Scope For 308, you should begin by removing any dust or dirt with a soft cloth or lens-cleaning tissue. 🔔 Avoid using any type of abrasive cleaners as they may damage the surface.
🔍 If necessary you can also use a mild soap solution to remove more stubborn dirt and grime, but be sure to rinse off the scope with water and dry thoroughly afterward.

The optic from Trybe would make for a great DMR, yet I wouldn’t want to give up my close-range capabilities by not having an unmagnified or low-power sight. So, that’s why I’m going to couple the same magnification range lens with a micro red dot on an offset mount–though it’s tricky shooting tilted that way, it remains better than attempting CQB with just a 3.6x scope!

I recently purchased the Remington 700 aac sd 308, and I’m now on the hunt for an ideal scope. I plan to use it mainly for long-range target practice at distances ranging from 100 to 1000 yards (eventually). Initially, my sights were set on the Nikon m308 4-16×42 bdc 800 but since this is my first foray into purchasing scopes specifically designed for long-range shooting, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
If you want excellent quality without breaking the bank, then the SWFA 6×42 and 10×42 are just what you need. Both cost only $300 each and also offer 12x, 16X, or 20X power levels as well.
It’s true, the Razor HD cost me a pretty penny – but that view through it is worth every cent! Not to mention its weight – I mean, my dad was actually asking why I’d mounted a culvert pipe on my rifle when he saw how heavy this thing was. All jokes aside though, even with its hefty price tag and size…it’s absolutely worth it.

I’ve just purchased the Trijicon Huron for approximately $450, and I think it was a great decision. With its 10x power capability, you can easily observe large game animals at distances up to 500 yards without worrying about losing ft-lbs of energy. In my opinion, 9-12x magnification is ideal when hunting; anything above 12x reduces your field of view significantly, making quick successive shots much more difficult.

I’m in the market for a .308 scope with a price range of around $100, and I need it to be able to hit deer within 200 yards. The current Bushnell 3-9×40 that came already installed on my gun isn’t cutting it anymore, so I thought about upgrading with the Barska 3-12×50; however, its eye relief is only 2.7 inches which has me worried. Can you recommend any other decently priced scopes?
The Nikon Prostaff is an outstanding bargain at just $175, offering robustness and dependability without breaking the bank. It’s hard to find a better deal when it comes to low-cost optics!
Scope For 308 gives you excellent value for money, and its features make it an ideal pick for hunters as well as competitive shooters. ⭕️ But if you’re looking for something more feature-rich with better performance, then it might not be your best bet. ➙ In that case, check out these alternatives that we’ve rounded up:
🔵 Option 1:Vortex Optics Viper PST Gen II Scope – This one comes with some really top-of-the-line features like fast focus eyepiece, illuminated reticles, first focal plane reticle options, and plenty of magnification range (from 4 to either 25 or 16).
🔵 Option 2: Nightforce Optics ATACR Scope – This one offers a rugged and strong aircraft-grade aluminum construction, excellent optical performance, and a great magnification range (from 4 to either 25 or 16).
🔵 Option 3: Leupold VX-Freedom Scope – The VX-Freedom is an economical option that comes with features like the Twilight Max Light Management System, long eye relief, and side focus parallax adjustment. It also has the excellent image quality and plenty of magnifications (from 3.5 to 9x) to choose from.
Note that your budget is keeping you handcuffed to the same quality level as your current scope. Increase it and you could access something even better, like a Vortex.

My Vortex 2.5-10×44 is a total dream on my lightweight 308 and I almost outfitted all of my rifles with it! Though, since some are more accurate than me, I decided to just stick with the 5 that have this fantastic scope mounted.

Mind me askin’ what rings/rail are good to be used to mount the scope?
👉🏻 Most commonly, the scopes are mounted using Picatinny or Weaver rails.
⚫️ The Picatinny rail is the most common and provides more flexibility than the Weaver rail because it allows for multiple slots in which rings can be placed. Both types of rails provide secure mounting and maximum stability.

I have a UTG scope on my .308 that has been reliable and hasn’t lost its zero since I’ve had it, even after countless hours at the range. Likewise, my 5.56 rifle is equipped with a UG 2-16×44 30mm that gives me almost as clear of an image as the Vortex would for much less money. Of course, your results may vary, but I’m confident you’ll be just as pleased with this choice!
