Best Night Vision Scope For Coyote Hunting

What is the night vision scope for hunting? 🤔

It is a type of optic device that allows you to see in the dark. They use either an image intensifier tube or thermal imaging technology to provide a magnified and clear view of the surrounding area. The most popular night vision scope used for coyote hunting is an image intensifier.

Night Vision Scope For Coyote Hunting

Features 🔥

🤠 Night vision scopes are a great tool for coyote hunters, as they allow you to spot your quarry in low-light conditions. Here are some features:

  • Magnification/Objective Lens Size: Such scopes usually have built-in magnification and adjustable objective lenses. This allows you to zoom in closer and see further, making it easier to spot a coyote in low-light conditions.
  • Image Intensifier Tube Type: Night vision scopes use image intensifier tubes that amplify available light so you can see better in the dark. There are several different image intensifier tube types, the higher the generation number, the more expensive the night vision scope will be.
  • Field of View: it measures how wide an area you can see at one time through the scope’s eyepiece.
  • Range Detection: scopes also come with range detection capability so you can estimate ranges accurately before taking shots at night.
  • Battery Life: they require batteries to operate, so it’s important to choose one with good battery life so you don’t run out of power while hunting in the dark.
  • Durability/Weatherproofing: made out of durable materials like high-grade aluminum alloy or reinforced polymer composites that won’t corrode, deform or break easily during extreme weather conditions like heavy rain or snowfall.

Set up for coyotes using night vision 🌔

😎 Night vision optics allow you to see the detail of your prey even in near-total darkness, and can often make it easier to hunt coyotes at night. Setting up for predators at night requires careful planning and preparation.

  • ➡️ First, find an area where there is likely to be predator activity. Coyotes are most active after sunset, so look for areas with abundant potential food sources or high rodent populations.
  • ➡️ Make sure to set up no farther than 100 yards away from any potential food sources to ensure that predators come into view when illuminated by the Night Vision Scope’s light source.
  • ➡️ Next, prepare the scope for the hunt. Make sure that the scope is securely mounted and will not move during recoil from firing.
  • ➡️ Finally, ensure all optics are clean and free of dust or other debris before beginning a coyote hunt.

😀👍 With careful preparation and setup, night vision scope users can give themselves the best chance of success while out in the field.

FAQ 😎

Is night vision or thermal better for coyote hunting?
  • 🔶 If you are planning on doing most of your hunting during the day, then a night vision scope would be a good option.
  • 🔶 However, if you want to be able to hunt at night or in very low light conditions, then a thermal scope would be better.
What color can coyotes not see?

⭕ Coyotes are dichromats, meaning that they can only see two colors: blue and yellow. This means that they cannot see red, green, or any other color in the spectrum.

  • ☑️ Night vision scopes work by amplifying available light, so if you’re looking to use one for coyote hunting, make sure it’s equipped with such a color lens.
How long should you call for coyotes?

🤔 This is a difficult question to answer, as it depends on several factors, such as the time of year, the time of day, the area you are hunting in, and the behavior of the coyotes.

  • ⏰ In general, however, you should call for at least 30 minutes to give the coyotes time to respond.
What temperature is best for coyote hunting?

🤓 When hunting coyotes, it is important to consider the temperature of your environment.

  • 🌡 Ideal temperatures for coyoting are generally between 20-60 degrees Fahrenheit; however, a wide range of temperatures can be used by experienced hunters.
  • 🌞 During the warmer months, success has been found in more extreme temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to the low 90s, though this should be done with caution and preparation.
  • 🌔 Nighttime is typically the best time for coyote hunting regardless of the season.
Where should you aim when shooting coyotes?

🤠 The first step is to determine what level of magnification you need. Night vision scopes typically offer 2x or 3x magnification powers – this will affect how much detail you can see in your target area.

  • 💠 If you’re shooting at shorter ranges (less than 100 yards), a 2x scope should suffice.
  • 💠 However, if you’re shooting at longer distances (200+ yards), you’ll need a 3x scope.
What moon phase is best for coyote hunting?
  • 🌔 The best time to hunt coyotes is during the first and last quarters of the moon. During these periods, there’s more natural light in the sky, which makes it easier to spot your prey.
  • 🌔 Some hunters prefer hunting on nights with a full moon because of this increased visibility, but be aware that coyotes become much more active on nights when there’s less light as well.

🔰 If you’re hunting in an open and flat area without much cover or darkness, then a night vision scope with higher magnification settings may be your best bet.

🔰 On the other hand, if you’re hunting in a more wooded or mountainous area, then you might want to opt for a scope with a wider field of view and less magnification.

Conclusion 🙂

Night vision scopes are a great tool for coyote hunters. They allow you to see in the dark, making it easier to spot your prey. In this article, we have shared the top picks for the best night vision scope for coyote hunting. We hope that you found this information helpful and that it will help you make an informed decision when purchasing a scope for coyote hunting. 🤠❤️‍🔥

I am currently facing a coyote problem where they are targeting my goats. To handle this issue, I own a Remington 700 VLS in .308 and I am interested in getting a night vision scope. I prefer not to switch between regular day scopes and night scopes and believe a clip-on night vision scope would be a suitable solution. I am seeking advice and experiences from others who have used clip-on night vision scopes.

In your situation, if I may suggest, using a spotlight could be a better solution to address the coyote problem, in my opinion. Alternatively, you could also consider getting a guard llama as they are known to be fierce and can take down coyotes.

In my opinion, I would recommend getting a llama or two as they have been effective in keeping coyotes away from our sheep, and they look hilariously goofy. Alternatively, using a green-filtered light and calling them in could also be a viable solution. BESTSUN Predator Light works well up to 400 yards if I recall correctly. I have had success luring them in during the afternoon when they come out to bask in the sun.

Greetings everyone, I am currently searching for a night vision scope to use for coyote hunting. My budget falls between $500 to $1500, and I am seeking a scope that can make a clean shot up to 300 yards. As a night vision novice, I would greatly appreciate any expertise and advice you can offer on this matter.

Just being honest with you, hitting targets up to 300 yards on your budget might be challenging. You’ll have to stick to digital night vision within your price range, but the downside is that it may limit your range. With digital night vision, you can typically shoot up to 200 yards at most. The SightMark Photon RT Digital night vision riflescope that we carry is a good option that can get you close to 200 yards, but not quite 300 yards.

I had a feeling that shooting up to 300 yards on my budget would be a stretch. Based on what we typically encounter, most of the coyotes we see are within the 100 to 300-yard range. On a recent hunting trip, my friend was using an ATN X-Sight PRO 4K, which worked well for him. He also had a large IR illuminator to assist with night vision.

I’m considering getting into hunting with thermal or night vision and would like some advice from those with firsthand experience. I’m wondering if combining this approach with a thermal monocular would be better than using a scope. My idea is to scan with the thermal and then use the light to locate the coyotes. From what I’ve read, pairing a thermal monocular with a 3rd gen night vision scope would be ideal, but I don’t have the budget for both. While I think it would be nice not to have to swing my rifle around to scan for coyotes, I don’t want to make a purchase that I might regret later. My budget is around $5k, so any suggestions on what would be the best approach would be appreciated.

I don’t have as much experience, but I can share that my thermal spotter has been incredibly useful. I’ve been able to walk up to elk and deer at night using my thermal spotter, and then when I switch to my night vision goggles, I can’t see them anymore. I think it’s just me though because plenty of guys can shoot coyotes with night vision. But based on my experience, if you want to spot coyotes at night, I’d recommend going with thermal.

I started my night vision journey with a thermal optic, which can be incredible if the conditions are right. Nowadays, I primarily use thermal as my handheld scanning optic. However, moving optics around and ensuring they maintain a returnable zero can be a challenging task. While night vision has its limitations, I have set high goals for myself this year. I aim to shoot a 300-pound hog, one inch below the ear, at a distance of 300 yards with a 6.5cm during nighttime hours.

As someone who has been night hunting for a while now, I would strongly suggest not using your rifle as a scanning optic. It’s not only dangerous but also very tiring to swing it around constantly. If you have a budget of up to $5000, you might want to take a look at the Pulsar Digisight Ultra N455 night vision riflescope.
