How to choose the best 10 Round 1911 Magazine? 🤷🏽
When selecting, it is important to consider several criteria:
🔎 First, you should look for magazines that are specifically designed for 10 rounds rather than those that can be adapted for 10 rounds by adding additional components such as sleeves or blocks. |
🔎 You should also look for magazines with a reliable feeding system that ensures smooth and consistent loading. |
🔎 Durability is another important factor to consider, as 10-round magazines are prone to wear and tear due to the high number of rounds they are designed to hold. |
🔎 Additionally, magazines should be compatible with your pistol so that they fit securely without any extra modifications or adjustments. |

How to clean a 10-Round 1911 Mag? 🧤
Regular cleaning is essential for proper operation and maintenance. Fortunately, the process of cleaning 10-round 1911 mags is relatively simple. Here are some tips and guidelines:
1️⃣ Disassemble the magazine:
- 🔸 Empty all the rounds from the magazine before beginning the cleaning process.
- 🔸 Then remove any external components such as springs, followers, or base pads if applicable.
✔️ This will help in better accessibility to all parts during the actual cleaning stage.
2️⃣ Clean with a Soft Cloth:
- 🔸 Use a soft cloth soaked in warm water or gun solvent to wipe down every internal surface of magazine.
3️⃣ Dry Thoroughly:
- 🔸 After cleaning with a cloth, you must dry all surfaces completely before reassembling.
✔️ This will help ensure the proper functioning and prevent potential rusting of internal components due to moisture presence.
4️⃣ Lubrication:
- 🔸 Once everything is dry, apply some gun oil or lubricant to all moving parts such as springs, followers, and base pads before putting them back together.
✔️ This will help in smooth operation and reduce wear and tear over time.
5️⃣ Reassemble:
- 🔸 After putting all components back together, it is a good practice to test the magazine by loading and unloading rounds several times to ensure smooth functioning.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your 10-Round 1911 Magazines are in peak condition and ready for use.

FAQ 🤔
Conclusion 🙂
10-round 1911 magazines are a must-have for any shooter looking to keep their firearm running smoothly. It’s important to do your research before purchasing one of these magazines, as there are many different types available on the market. In this article, we’ve provided reviews of some of the best magazines available and shared some tips on how to choose the right one for you. Thanks for reading! 😉❤️
After visiting a 1911 Class with Larry, I was able to witness firsthand the improvement and feel of these designs over my Wilson ETMs. These mags are truly an upgrade! On account of their remarkable performance, I’ve already ordered some for duty use while maintaining my Wilsons as training weapons and qualifiers.
After two months, how are they faring?
Great. In my Wilson mag, the spring is very firm after 3 months of active use. No trouble getting all the rounds in though.
Trying to decide between “Chip McCormick 10 Rounds Power Mag +” and “Chip McCormick 10 Rounds Railed Power Mag”. Will be grateful for recommendations!
Greetings, I am leaning towards selecting the 10-round Railed Power Mag.
The Chip McCormick 10 Rounds Power Mag+ and 10 Rounds Railed Power Mag are two popular 10-round 1911 magazine models, but both offer different features that may be suitable for different shooters.
🔷 The 10 Rounds Power Mag+ is designed to improve the reliability of your handgun by ensuring that all rounds feed correctly into the chamber, even when loaded too quickly or with difficult ammunition. It also has a special follower design that helps keep the magazine from deforming or breaking in extreme conditions.
🔶 The 10 Rounds Railed Power Mag comes with an integrated rail system, allowing shooters to attach accessories like lights and lasers to their magazines without having to use adapters. This model also includes additional protective features like a bakelite baseplate cover and extra-thick magazine tube walls to help absorb shock and impact when dropped.
📢 Ultimately, the decision comes down to personal preference.
My experience with my Wilsons has been less than ideal, and I’m not attempting to discredit them; however, they seem to struggle in Rock Island. Nevertheless, the Chip McCormick magazines are relatively equal in price and offer better performance for me. It appears that this is likely an issue exclusive to my handgun and not the mags themselves.
Whenever I need a magazine for my firearms, Chip McCormick is the only choice. If I have some in stock, they’ll go into a box; but any Chip mags get stored safely away with my guns – because it’s tough to beat their quality!
agree! out of all the after-market 1911 magazines, Chip McCormick is the only brand I fully trust. In fact, I currently own 10 Power Mag+ models!
Is there a risk of harm to my pistol if I insert the magazine? That’s been on my mind lately.
No, 10-round 1911 magazines are designed for use in firearms and have been tested for safety.
⭕️However, as with any firearm-related item, it is important to take the necessary precautions and read all instructions before use:
1️⃣ Be sure to review product information when purchasing, so that you can ensure they are compatible with your pistol.
2️⃣ Additionally, always make sure to inspect a magazine before use to ensure that it has no visible damage or signs of wear and tear.
3️⃣ If you see anything that makes you uncomfortable or raises questions about its integrity, is sure to replace it immediately.
Hey,
I have a total of five 10-round 1911 magazines for 9mm, two of which were included with my DW PM-9 and three Wilson ETM ones. Although they are advertised to contain ten rounds, in reality, the last one is too firmly inserted so that when there are nine inside it makes it difficult to move the slide forward and grab the first round before the battery. This has caused me some issues at local league matches before; I’d like to find an answer soon so I can shoot each stage without running empty on bullets.
The eight-round magazines I have reliably keep the slides in place without any issues.
To increase the capacity and reduce grip on the first round, some suggest trimming off a coil or two from the magazine spring.
After thorough research, I found that a heavier recoil spring is often the best solution for my problem. The DW PM-9 comes with a 10lb recoil spring according to Jacob from DW, but they don’t offer replacement springs in different weights so I purchased an 11 lb Wilson Combat one as a starting point and will increase or decrease it accordingly if needed. Are there any other solutions aside from clipping the mag spring?
Thanx.
As a proud owner of 50 Wilson ETM 9mm (10 round) magazines, I can attest to their reliability and functionality. Every single one has performed flawlessly when loading rounds or chambering without any issues whatsoever.
The mag springs can be backward in the tubes
For years, I’ve had no problem fitting Wilson, Tripp, and Chip 10-rounders into new magazines. Loading 9 rounds first and allowing them to sit for a few days would typically make it easier to add a tenth before letting the magazine sit again for additional days. This process ensures that all ten rounds fit comfortably in the magazine without any problems.
