⚙️How to adjust?⚙️

When it comes to clay target traps, one of the most important aspects is ensuring that they are properly adjusted. Here’s what you need to know about making adjustments to your trap:

  • 🪛 The first step is to set up the thrower according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This means making adjustments for launch angle, elevation, and speed, among other things.
  • 🪛 Adjusting a target trap requires changing two main variables – tilt and windage (or side-to-side movement). To adjust these variables, use a wrench or screwdriver to turn the nuts located on each side of the mount until the desired alignment has been achieved.
  • 🪛 You’ll also want to take into consideration the location of your trap. This means making sure that it is level and in an area with adequate backstop protection (for safety reasons).

📌 By taking these steps, you can be sure that your clay target trap will work as intended – allowing for maximum enjoyment when shooting clays!

Champion Traps and Targets SkyBird Traps

View on OpticsPlanet

Specification

A 3/4 Cock Trap has a one-way clutch that allows the throwing arm to travel in only one direction. When the throwing arm is tripped and a clay target is thrown, the inertia of the arm carries it to about an 8 o’clock position. The one-way clutch does not allow the spring to pull the arm back to the noon position but instead stops it at the furthest distance traveled, which is closer to the setter. This feature requires less force and a much shorter distance to fully cock the trap for the next throw.

The Champion Traps and Targets SkyBird Traps are the perfect choices for those looking for a reliable and sturdy trap. The 3/4 Cock Trap has a one-way clutch that allows the throwing arm to travel in only one direction, making it easier to cock for the next throw. Today, I had the opportunity to shoot some skeet for the first time in years, and I had an absolute blast. We used a friend’s skeet thrower, which, to my knowledge, is also called a trap thrower. While it was fun to use, I found the mechanism somewhat difficult to operate and slightly dangerous due to its lightweight and tendency to move while being cocked. I’m interested in buying a skeet thrower for myself, but I want one that is easier to use. I would love some advice on what to look for in a good skeet thrower or a recommendation for a particular model.

I’m not much of a serious shotgun shooter, but I’ve had a lot of fun using the Trius 1-Step ST2 Clay Target Trap. What’s great about it is that it uses your foot power instead of requiring you to cock it by hand each time, which makes it easy to use by yourself. I also appreciate that there’s no spring tension on it until you’re ready to throw, so there’s no risk of accidentally hitting someone with it. The only thing to be careful about is adjusting the angle, as you need to make sure the foot pedal is in the right position to release the clays. But once you’ve got it set up, it’s pretty foolproof. I’ve taken it out with friends who have electric throwers, and they were impressed with how quick and easy it was to set up and use.

I’m in the market for a clay launcher to gift to a friend for his property, but I don’t have much expertise when it comes to throwers. I want to get him something that he can use for years to come and that is of good quality. My maximum budget is around $2,000, so I’m looking for recommendations and advice on what to purchase.

As someone who manages a sporting clay course for a sportsmen’s club, I can offer some advice on clay launchers within your $2,000 budget. One option is the Atlas Trap AT1 Trap Throwet, which is an entry-level commercial-grade machine. They are similar in design to the Champions but are built much more durably. However, they do have limited tilt adjustment options. Prices for their backyard-style machines start under $1,000, and there are many options available.

Today, I went out with my dad and 11-year-old brother to shoot clays. However, we quickly grew tired of cocking our cheap little spring-loaded thrower. Therefore, we are looking for recommendations on automatic throwers, while trying to stay on the lower end of the budget.

If you’re looking for an automatic clay thrower but don’t want to spend a lot of money, electric models may not be the best option. However, a possible alternative is Champion Traps And Targets SkyBird Traps. This type of thrower can take most of the effort out of cocking it and maybe a more affordable option.

Some retailers even sell versions that can throw two clays simultaneously. This option can be more versatile than a cheap machine or hand-cock thrower, as you can easily vary the speed and direction of the clays in real time.

My 22-year-old kid is interested in receiving a portable skeet thrower as a gift for Christmas or their birthday. We have a nearby public range that has an open field with a parking lot where we can shoot for about an hour or so, but we need something that can easily be loaded and unloaded from the car. I’ve noticed that the cheap throwers (around $50-$60) look like they won’t hold up, and the next price range up is around $250-$400. I’m willing to invest in a good product, but I’m wondering how much of a hassle it will be to haul around.

I wanted to share my experience with the Champion Electric Clay Target, which I purchased. I love it I love it so much that I bought a second one. If you’re considering buying a thrower, I highly recommend saving up and investing in it. In three years of use, I have never encountered any problems or failures – just hook it up to a battery and you’re good to go.

In my opinion, the decision of which clay pigeon thrower to purchase ultimately depends on how important remote control functionality is to you. While cheaper throwers are more portable and require a dedicated operator, investing in an electronically controlled model can offer additional features such as foot pedals and the ability to set the machine further away from the shooter for a more realistic trap experience. However, this also means you have to transport a battery and ensure it’s charged. Unfortunately, there isn’t an in-between option. If you have the space and means to transport it, I would recommend going for an electronically controlled trap machine with remote functionality.

I own a couple of electric auto traps and they’re great when you have a group of people over and want to shoot multiple clays simultaneously. However, they’re heavy and difficult to move around, and you need to carry car batteries to power them. Currently, I have them attached to a pallet along with dedicated batteries, and I move them with a telehandler. Moving them by hand is a hassle. To be honest, you might be better off getting a manual thrower (foot or hand-operated). But make sure to get a “3/4 self-cocking” one as they’re easier to use and less tiring for long sessions, and less likely to cause an injury if used incorrectly.
