  • 2️⃣ Purpose: For example, if the goal is to improve accuracy, then a bullseye target would be a suitable choice. If the goal is to simulate hunting scenarios, then silhouette targets may be more appropriate.
  • 3️⃣ Size: For example, a smaller target may be used for long-range shooting, while a larger target may be used for shorter distances.
  • 4️⃣ Material: Targets can be made from a variety of materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, steel, or clay. The material chosen will depend on the type of shooting discipline and the desired durability of the target.
  • 5️⃣ Scoring: Some targets have scoring rings or other markings to aid in scoring accuracy. The type of scoring system will depend on the shooting discipline and the desired level of challenge.
  • 6️⃣ Cost: The cost of the target may also be a consideration, particularly for individuals who shoot frequently. Some targets are reusable while others are designed for single use.
  • 7️⃣ Safety: Safety should always be a consideration when choosing shooting targets. Targets should be placed in a safe location and made from materials that will not cause ricochets or other safety hazards.

The range I visit overcharges on nearly everything, including paper targets. As a result, I bring my own firearm, ammunition, and splatter burst targets. However, I would also like to purchase paper targets, and I’m looking for suggestions other than the standard NRA B27 targets. I typically shoot at distances of 25-50 yards. Thank you.

🔎 If you’re looking for paper targets for shooting at distances of 25-50 yards, there are several options to consider:

Some popular choices include 📍 Birchwood Casey Shoot-N-C targets, which feature a brightly colored ring around the bullet hole for easy visibility, or 📍 Caldwell Orange Peel targets, which have a similar ring design.

Another option is the 📍 Champion VisiColor line of targets, which uses a multi-color design to help you easily identify your shots.

📢 Whatever you choose, make sure the target is appropriate for the type of firearm and ammunition you’ll be using, and follow all safety protocols when setting up and using the target.

Can shooting targets be used in indoor ranges?

Shannon Smith

Yes, shooting targets can be used in indoor ranges. ⚠️ However, it is important to follow proper safety protocols and ensure that the range is properly ventilated to prevent the buildup of harmful gases. Indoor ranges often have specific rules and regulations regarding the type of targets that can be used, so it is important to check with the range before bringing your targets.

⭕️ Additionally, some targets, such as steel targets, may not be suitable for use in indoor ranges due to the risk of ricochets.
