Best 6.5 Grendel Magazine

What is 6.5 Grendel Mags? 🤔

They are a type of magazine designed for the AR-15 rifle chambered in 6.5 Grendel. This caliber is capable of achieving longer effective ranges than other AR-15 cartridges, which makes it ideal for hunting and precision shooting.

6.5 Grendel Mags

Features 💡

  • 🔷 Capacity: It is the most crucial factor to consider when purchasing a 6.5 Grendel mag. The industry standard is 10 rounds. However, you may find magazines with a capacity of up to 30 rounds.
  • 🔷 Durability: In addition to capacity, a mag must be durable enough to withstand the demanding conditions of shooting. Consider the materials used in construction and the quality of the magazine’s base plate, follower, and spring.
  • 🔷 Design: The overall design also plays a significant role in its effectiveness. The magazine should fit snugly into the rifle and operate smoothly during loading and unloading.
  • 🔷 Compatibility: It is important to consider the compatibility of the magazine with the rifle you are using. Certain rifles may require specific magazines, so be sure to check the manufacturer’s recommendations before purchasing.
  • 🔷 Weight: The weight of the magazine can have a significant impact on your overall shooting experience. A lightweight magazine can reduce the overall weight of your rifle and make it easier to maneuver. However, a magazine that is too light may not have enough durability, so balance the weight with the other factors before making a final decision.
  • 🔷 Price: Finally, consider the price. While it may be tempting to select the cheapest option, it is important to prioritize quality and reliability. Though choices would vary, this mag generally costs between $20 to $100.

⚙️Magazine issue & fix⚙️

🧐 First off, it is important to understand the differences between magazine issues and fixes.

  • Magazine issues refer to the number of rounds that can be held within a single magazine tube, while fix refers to whether or not a magazine must be altered or modified before use by an individual shooter.

➡️ For 6.5 Grendel specifically, most standard-capacity magazines contain 5-10 rounds depending on caliber and design, with some specialty magazines available with up to 25-round capacities.

  • 🛠️ Any modifications or alterations required beyond this are considered fixes and may require specialized tools and knowledge to complete properly.

FAQ 😎

What is the difference between 5.56 and 6.5 Grendel magazine?

🧐 These magazines differ in size, shape, and function.

➡️ The 5.56 magazine is designed to accommodate the smaller diameter of the 5.56 cartridge while the 6.5 Grendel magazine is tailored to fit the larger diameter of the 6.5 Grendel round. This difference in size and shape of the cartridge means that magazines for the two calibers are not interchangeable.

Can 6.5 Grendel use a 5.56 bolt and magazine?

🤨 No, 6.5 Grendel cannot use a 5.56 bolt or magazine.

🛟 The 6.5 Grendel uses an AR-15 patterned lower receiver with a modified bolt head and magazine designed specifically for the 6.5 Grendel cartridges.

📌 It is important to note that while it will fit into an AR-15 lower, it is not the same as a 5.56 AR-15.

Can 6.5 Grendel use 6.8 SPC magazines?

🤔 The answer is no.

🚩 The 6.8 SPC magazines are designed to feed the 6.8 SPC cartridge and the 6.5 Grendel uses a different magazine than those designed for the 6.8 SPC round. This means that it is not possible to use a 6.8 SPC magazine with a 6.5 Grendel rifle.

Will 6.5 Grendel work in PMAG?

😉 Yes, the 6.5 Grendel is designed to work with PMAG magazines.

✳️ While the magazine bodies are slightly different shapes than standard AR mags, it’s a relatively simple process to get them swapped out and ready for use.

How many rounds is a 6.5 Grendel magazine?

💥 The 6.5 Grendel magazine is typically designed to hold five rounds, though some variations can be found with a capacity of up to ten rounds.

😀 The number of rounds each particular magazine holds will depend on the manufacturer and model.

Are 7.62 x39 and 6.5 Grendel mags the same?

🤨 No, 7.62 x39 and 6.5 Grendel mags are not the same.

📝 7.62 x39 is a Soviet-era cartridge that originated in Russia and is used in AK-47 assault rifles, while 6.5 Grendel was developed by Bill Alexander of Alexander Arms as a modern alternative to the aging 7.62 x39 cartridge with improved accuracy and terminal performance.

Conclusion 😊

In conclusion, the 6.5 Grendel magazine is an excellent choice for anyone looking to upgrade their rifle set up and take it to the next level of accuracy and performance. I need a high-quality magazine for the 6.5 Grendel, but I have just 5.56 magazines. Can it be used with the 6.5 Grendel?

Based on my experience, I’ve found that the Ammunition Storage Components AR-15 SPC Magazines work great with 6.5 Grendel. But I’ve heard negative feedback about larger-capacity magazines.

I must admit I’m not an expert on feeding systems either, but from what I’ve heard, finding a reliable magazine for a 6.5 Grendel build can be tricky. Most magazines seem to be hit or miss, and the largest capacity ones available are usually around 26 rounds. Am I right?

The angle of the 6.5 Grendel rounds is the reason why they appear more tapered than the 5.56 and 7.62×39 ammo. The 5-10 round straight magazines seem to feed well, but the larger straight magazines like the 15-round have a bad reputation. Curved magazines like the 17-round ones with blue followers seem to work fine, but I haven’t tried the 20-round curved mags yet. I’ve heard that the 26-round curved ones are okay, but there aren’t any 30-round magazines available yet. The curve of those magazines would be more extreme than even the 7.62×39 AR mags.

As someone who was previously skeptical of the 6.5 Grendel, I recently decided to build a 12-inch rifle chambered in the round. However, I’m not sure which magazines will function properly. Can anyone recommend a reliable option?

Personally, I have had good results with the Franklin Armory DFM Magazine, and while the 25-round ones have been somewhat successful, they are not perfect.

I’m in the process of building a 6.5 Grendel and I’m really excited of take it out of the range. However, I’m having trouble finding magazines specifically designed for the 6.5 Grendel. I’m wondering if I could use 6mm magazines for my 6.5 Grendel ammunition.

I’ve had a good experience with E-lander Mags E-lander Magazine 6.5 Grendel. I recently found them on sale and they’ve been functioning well for me. The only issue I have with them is the glossy black paint, but that’s easy to fix with a can of spray paint. From my experience, every magazine brand has mixed reviews, but it’s important to buy from a company that stands behind its product. Most companies will send you a replacement if you have issues without any hassle.
