Best Shoulder Holsters

How to choose it? 🔍

When selecting the best shoulder holster, you need to consider a few key factors. Here is a quick guide to help you choose the perfect one for your needs:

  • 📝 They should be comfortable to wear since they are worn on the body. Look for adjustable straps, breathable padding, and lightweight construction to ensure maximum comfort.
  • 📝 If you need a holster that is easily hidden under clothing, look for ones made of thin materials and featuring a low-profile design.
  • 📝 Pay attention to holsters that feature adjustable retention straps or thumb break retainers to keep your gun secure while you’re on the go. This will help prevent any accidental discharges from occurring.
  • 📝 They also should be durable enough to stand up to everyday wear and tear, as well as regular use in the field or on the range. Choose one made from strong materials such as leather or nylon for long-lasting performance.
  • 📝 Make sure your holster is easy to access in case you need to draw your weapon quickly. Consider holsters with adjustable straps or quick-release buckles for easier access when you need them.

😉 By considering these factors, you can ensure that the shoulder holster you choose will meet your needs and provide reliable performance for many years to come.

How to properly wear it? 🤔

When wearing a shoulder holster, it is important to make sure that the holster is securely positioned to ensure maximum comfort and safety.

  • ⌛️ To begin with, you should adjust your shoulder straps so that the holster rests snugly against your side at an angle of about 45 degrees from your body. This will help to keep the gun secure and prevent it from slipping out of position.
  • ⌛️ Then, you should then thread them through the belt loops on either side of the holster for extra security. You can also add additional securing mechanisms such as clasps or snaps if necessary.
  • ⌛️ Finally, when adjusting the straps, make sure that they are tight enough to prevent movement but not too tight as this could cause discomfort over time.

📌 It is also important to keep in mind that such holster will generally be more comfortable when worn over a shirt or other layer of clothing as opposed to directly against the skin.

FAQ🤠

How is a holster supposed to fit?

⚡ A shoulder holster is designed to fit snugly against your body, with the gun held securely in place against your chest.

👍 It is important that the holster fit properly to ensure that the gun is not able to move around or fall out.

Is a shoulder holster considered concealed carry?

😀 A shoulder holster is typically used for carrying a handgun concealed.

📌 However, some states have specific laws that govern how and when a shoulder holster can be used. It is best to check with your local law enforcement agency to find out if a shoulder holster is allowed in your area.

Are holsters a good idea?

🤔 There is no definitive answer as to whether or not shoulder holsters are a good idea.

➡️ Ultimately, the best way to determine if a holster is right for you is to try it out.

Why do people wear such holsters?

😉 Shoulder holsters offer comfort and concealment for carrying a gun. They are perfect for those who want to carry their weapon concealed but don’t want the added bulk of a belt holster.

  • ✳️ A holster distributes the weight of the gun evenly across your body, making it more comfortable to wear for long periods.
  • ✳️ Additionally, they are great for concealing large firearms because they distribute the gun away from your hips and under your arm.
Which is better vertical or horizontal shoulder holster?

🤔 There is no simple answer to this question as the best shoulder holster for you will depend on your personal preferences and needs.

✅ Some people prefer a vertical shoulder holster as it allows for a quicker draw, while others find a horizontal shoulder holster more comfortable.

😎 Ultimately, it is up to you to decide which type of shoulder holster is best for you.

Conclusion 🙂

When it comes to finding the best shoulder holster, there are a few key factors you need to consider a lot of different factors. We have reviewed several of the top-rated holsters on the market and highlighted some of our favorites in this article. I’m curious to hear about any personal experiences with shoulder holsters. I’m considering getting one for my G23 and would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

I like shoulder holsters. When I first started, I used a Galco rig with a Beretta 92. Galco makes some great holsters, especially for the price. Over the years, I’ve tried all sorts of holsters, but I always come back to shoulder rigs. When balanced properly, they can also hold spare magazines or other gear under your opposite arm. I once knew a fellow officer who would wear her belt mags in addition to her shoulder rig, giving her four total magazines. We noticed that whenever she did that, the likelihood of needing that extra ammo seemed to increase. It’s just one of those things you start to notice after a while.

I use a Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster for my CC (concealed carry). I find it extremely comfortable, and easy to conceal, and I even use it at the range. Some individuals may have concerns with cross-draw, but in my experience, it’s not an issue. Of course, not everyone will have the same preferences and opinions, but for me, the Galco Miami Classic works great.

I know that a shoulder holster isn’t the best option for CCW, and I understand some people prefer not to cross-draw against an assailant. However, I find it the most comfortable option for me, and I feel confident with that draw (although I haven’t had to draw for 20 years!). I used to carry an M9, but now I have a Sig P229, which has been a struggle for me to find a suitable holster. My hands are quite large, so I have trouble with smaller guns, which is why I opted for the 229 for concealed carry. I’ve tried various carries, including 3 and 5 o’clock with different holsters, as well as a Universal Holster, but nothing has felt just right yet. I’m considering a shoulder holster and some concealment shirts.

I haven’t had the chance to try a shoulder holster myself, but from what I’ve heard, some people avoid it because it requires wearing a jacket or a special shirt to conceal it. Additionally, I’ve heard mixed reviews about how comfortable it is. However, at the end of the day, I believe it’s important to use whatever works best with your clothing and is comfortable for you.

I carry my SIG P229 in a Galco Miami Classic II shoulder holster and find it to be very comfortable. I don’t understand why some people think that you need special shirts to conceal it, as I wear regular shirts over it all the time. I’ve been using this setup for about 2 years now, and while I also have hip holsters, the shoulder holster is much more comfortable for me.

As I’ve been binge-watching during quarantine, I can’t help but wonder about the shoulder holster. I know it’s not the most practical option with better choices out there like appendix carry. However, I’m still interested in learning more about it. I’m looking for individuals who have experience carrying with a shoulder holster, whether they were law enforcement or private citizens. What worked for you and what didn’t? What type of firearm did you carry and was your holster oriented horizontally or vertically?

When I was new to CCW several years ago, I carried a Galco shoulder rig. At the time, I lived in a place where it was easy to have a cover garment most of the year, and I appreciated the convenience of not having to wear a belt. I carried a 92FS, 1911, and HK P2000, all horizontally oriented. I made sure to practice drawing in a way that didn’t sweep myself and was aware of how slow the draw was and how difficult it would be to retain the pistol compared to something on the beltline. Because of this, I changed the general tactics I would use if the gun were needed, figuring that with a shoulder holster, I would seek cover, draw, and assess rather than seek cover/return fire with an appendix or strong side. I no longer own any shoulder holsters, but I wouldn’t mind having one for long road trips or if I drove for a living.

I have tried several different types of holsters for various guns, and I always prefer horizontal holsters with a thumb break and no attachments to the belt. While I haven’t used one for a larger pistol, I think it would work well for something like a 1911 or Browning. I’m interested in trying out a Galco Miami Classic to see how it carries. I’m not a big fan of vertical holsters, as they seem like a way to hold a cross-draw OWB holster higher than your belt, but you still have to have it attached to your belt. They are a good option for carrying something large or long like a 6″ revolver, though retention can vary.

I’m in the process of obtaining my CC permit in Florida and have been browsing for holsters. While visiting a few shops, I noticed that shoulder holsters are not as commonly displayed on the shelves, and I don’t know anyone who uses one, though I’ve seen plenty of waistband holsters. I’m curious if anyone out there uses shoulder holsters or if they are generally not very popular.

I own a shoulder holster that I love using when hunting or doing outdoor activities. It’s incredibly comfortable, doesn’t drag my pants down, and I can easily access my firearm while seated. I think the reason why you don’t see them much in stores is that they require fitting and can be quite complex, resulting in higher costs. Therefore, local shops may not keep them in stock as much as belt holsters. Additionally, fewer people wear jackets these days, so shoulder holsters make less sense for concealment. Lastly, they’re not considered “tactical” enough for the high-speed/low-drag operator types who are prevalent in the current firearms market.

In my opinion, shoulder holsters are just as safe as any other holster. They are especially comfortable for carrying a full-size service pistol, but the downside is that it’s difficult to conceal the firearm without wearing a jacket. It seems that when jackets went out of fashion, shoulder holsters did too.

When I go camping or hiking, I like to wear a shoulder holster to carry my gun. I usually don’t carry with a round chambered so I’m not too worried about the direction it’s pointing. However, drawing from the holster is not very practical. It usually requires both hands since the straps can snag and get in the way.
