Best Geissele Trigger

Single-stage or two-stage trigger? 🤔

When it comes to finding the best Geissele trigger for your rifle, there are two types of triggers to consider – single-stage and two-stage.

  • Single-stage triggers have a single pull which releases the hammer and fires the round. They’re often seen as more reliable since users don’t have to pull the trigger twice before firing a round.
  • Two-stage triggers have two separate pulls; one to release the hammer, and another to fire the round. They’re known for providing more control and accuracy, as users can adjust their technique to manage the first stage of pressure.

😉 No matter which type of trigger you choose, you can be sure that you’ll have one of the best triggers available on the market today!

How to install it? 🛠️

Installing a Geissele trigger is not difficult but it does require attention to detail.

🚨 To begin with, make sure the firearm is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction. Ensure that there are no live rounds stored in the weapon or magazine.

  • ➡️ Then take apart the gun as per manufacturer instructions until you have access to the trigger guard area.
  • ➡️ Disconnect the safety, magazine catch, and disconnector from the lower receiver before taking out the pins that hold the trigger guard in place.
  • ➡️ Next, remove all components from inside the receiver including any parts of factory triggers such as springs, detents, and pins.
  • ➡️ Now slide the new trigger into place and secure it with its mounting pin by pushing it through both sides of the receiver.
  • ➡️ Reinstall the safety, magazine catch, and disconnector by aligning them with pre-cut holes in the receiver.
  • ➡️ Finally, secure all of the remaining components to complete installation. Make sure you test-fire your firearm at a shooting range to ensure the proper function of your new trigger before use.

FAQ 🤠

How to choose a trigger for a gun?

➡️ There are a few key factors to consider when choosing the best trigger for your gun.

  • 🔶 The first factor is the weight of the trigger.
  • 🔶 The second is the sear release force, or how hard it is to pull the trigger.
  • 🔶 Finally, you’ll want to consider the trigger’s reset point.
What is the difference between a lighter trigger and a heavier one?

📌 The weight of the trigger is important because it affects how easy it is to fire the gun.

  • 🛟 A lighter trigger means that the gun is easier to fire, but it also means that there is a greater chance of accidental discharge.
  • 🛟 A heavier trigger, on the other hand, makes it more difficult to fire the gun but also decreases the chance of accidental discharge.
Which AR trigger is the fastest?

❇️ The Geissele SSA-E is the fastest AR trigger.

💠 It has a short, light pull and a short reset, making it the ideal choice for competitive shooters and anyone who wants the absolute best performance from their AR-15.

What is a semi-automatic trigger?

⚙️ A semi-automatic trigger is a device that activates the firing mechanism of a firearm.

What AR-15 is great for special forces?

I’m considering installing a Geissele trigger in my DPMS LR.308, as I’ve heard great things about the brand. However, I’ve also come across several drop-in triggers from reputable sources with similar features, which has made me wonder if I’m paying extra for the Geissele name. While I don’t consider Geissele triggers to be expensive, I’m not one to pay for perceived superiority and would rather invest in a product that delivers actual value. Has anyone here had experience with Geissele triggers compared to their more affordable competitors?

I’ve built a precision AR-15 and my first upgrade was a Geissele SSA-E trigger. I’ve also used the RRA two-stage match trigger in the past. While I would use Geissele triggers again, it would only be in a rifle that I value highly. In terms of functionality, there’s maybe a 15-20% difference between the two triggers. The SSA-E trigger is smoother than the RRA and has a lighter pull. The RRA trigger, on the other hand, has a heavier pull but is still decent. If you’re willing to spend more for top-of-the-line quality, go with Geissele, but expect to pay a premium. The RRA trigger is still a good option and will serve you well, plus it’s considerably more affordable. I paid around $190 for my SSA-E, and it’s hard to justify the cost if you’ve never experienced a match trigger before. However, the difference is truly night and day.

From what I’ve heard and experienced myself, Geissele triggers are highly regarded in the firearm community. Once you install one in your gun, it’s hard to go back to any other trigger.

Your best choice ultimately depends on what you are using the trigger for and your personal preferences. For a blinker or slow-fire bench rifle, I would probably get another Timney or a similar trigger. For a combat course, I would go with a Geissele combat trigger or something similar with a 4lb+ trigger pull and a long trigger pull to prevent accidental discharge. The SD3G would be great for timed competitions. If I was on a budget or building a beater gun, I would not bother with the Geissele triggers. It might be fun to start with a budget and your ideal rifle parts list and then prioritize what you want to spend your money on.

I’m interested in getting a Geissele trigger, but I’m not sure what sets them apart from other triggers or what justifies their higher price point. Can anyone help me understand the differences and advantages of Geissele triggers?

In my experience, the Geissele SSA is the go-to high-end trigger, known for its crisp break that feels like a carrot snapping. The SSA-E is a lighter version, with a break that feels more like a candy cane snapping. Both triggers also come in flat versions, which are linked in their descriptions.

In my opinion, it would be more beneficial to start by defining the problem you are trying to solve before settling on a specific brand like Geissele. Geissele is simply a brand name and there are only a few triggers they make that are truly unique in the trigger market. It’s like deciding to buy a Chevy without knowing what type of vehicle you need – a commuter car, a pickup truck, or a sports car. It’s important to consider the intended use and try out different triggers to determine if you need a fast shooting trigger, precision trigger, or improved tactical trigger.

I have a question regarding Geissele triggers. I don’t quite understand why they are so highly regarded. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Geissele just trying to turn a mil-spec trigger into a competition trigger rather than creating a dedicated competition trigger? I have installed both Geissele and Timney triggers, but I don’t understand why someone would pay $250-$350 for a two-stage trigger when they could get a single-stage trigger for $215. Can anyone shed some light on this? Am I missing something?

The Geissele triggers are highly sought after because of their exceptional quality and reliability, which makes them ideal for the high round count and hard-use rifles. They are designed to deliver a smooth and consistent trigger pull, resulting in better accuracy and control. Additionally, their durability and ability to withstand extreme conditions make them a popular choice among shooters. While they may be more expensive than some other options on the market, their quality and performance make them worth the investment for those who prioritize precision and reliability in their firearms.

The Geissele Super Select-Fire trigger was developed at the request of a military customer after their High-Speed trigger was found to be effective in semi-auto sniper rifles. The SSF trigger is unique because it functions as a 2-stage trigger in semi-auto mode but switches to a single-stage trigger in full auto mode. On the other hand, the Super Semi-Automatic trigger (SSA) is the SSF with a permanent 2-stage configuration and is priced at $210. The popularity of Geissele triggers lies in their durability and exceptional trigger pull, making them highly sought after by shooters who demand high-performance triggers for their rifles.

I find that I shoot better with a two-stage trigger. Having learned about military double hump users, I’ve come to rely on some amount of trigger prep before the break. It’s my understanding that a two-stage trigger can provide a lighter pull with a greater margin of safety. In my experience shooting high power, a fast trigger reset is important, and my current trigger is a smooth 4 lbs with a completely linear feel to the pull and consistent shot after shot. Investing over $200 in a trigger can be seen as investing in your hobby, and when choosing between Timney or Geissele, I shot an SSA-E and was sold.
