How do you clean your barrel after shooting?
Cleaning the barrel after shooting is an essential step in firearm maintenance. Here are the general steps to clean a barrel:

When I am at the range, I do not bring a multi-piece cleaning rod as I prefer to address any issues such as a stuck case when I am back home. However, if I were competing or in a situation where the rifle is needed without interruption, I would bring a multi-piece cleaning rod.
In my view, being overly concerned about cleaning the barrel is unnecessary. Typically, after firing 3,000 to 4,000 rounds, I run a single wet patch through it followed by a dry one, without the use of bristles. Moreover, I believe there is a lot of misinformation regarding the direction in which the barrel should be cleaned. In my experience, both directions work just fine as long as a cloth is used instead of bristles.
I only bother to clean the AR barrel I use for competition, and I tend to neglect the rest. For my other barrels, I simply can’t be bothered.
