Shooting with the Franklin Armory Binary Trigger 🎲

🧩 The Franklin Armory Binary Trigger has two modes: “Semi” and “Binary.”

  • 🔋 In Semi mode, the trigger will fire one round upon pulling and releasing it.
  • 🔋 In Binary mode, when you pull the trigger it releases one round and then continues to fire additional rounds as long as you hold down the trigger. This allows for extremely fast follow-up shots.

🧩 This trigger is designed to be compatible with most AR-15 rifles that use mil-spec parts. It can also be installed on other firearms such as shotguns and handguns if they have components that are similar in shape or size to an AR-15 rifle’s receiver extension tube or lower receiver pins.

🧩 In terms of safety features, Franklin Armory Binary Triggers include a disconnector which prevents accidental discharge if the trigger is held down while chambering another round from a magazine.

  • 🔋 Additionally, both “Semi” and “Binary” modes are equipped with an overrun hammer catch which prevents the hammer from contacting and thereby damaging the firing pin when engaged in either mode.
  • 🔋 Furthermore, all Franklin Triggers feature a three-position selector switch (Safe/Fire/Binary) which offers users greater control over their firearms’ safety protocols.

🧩 Shooting with a Franklin Trigger requires practice in order to become proficient at using its features correctly and safely; however once you’ve mastered its functions you’ll find this type of trigger highly beneficial for shooting sports competitions or recreational activities like hunting or target shooting due to its quick follow-up shots and increased accuracy.

  • 🔋 Moreover, its adjustable pull weight allows users to customize their shooting experience by making minor adjustments based on their preference or the ammunition type being used at any given time.

How To Install Franklin Armory Binary Trigger? 🔔

Before you begin the installation process, it is important to make sure that your trigger is compatible with your firearm. All Franklin Armory triggers are designed to work with AR-15 and AR-10 platform rifles chambered in .223/5.56 NATO or .308 Winchester calibre.

🎯 Step 1: Start by making sure that your rifle is unloaded and cleared of all ammunition before working on it.

🎯 Step 2: Remove the existing trigger group from the lower receiver of your rifle. You can do this by driving out the two pins on either side of the trigger group, starting with the front pin first. If there is difficulty in removing these pins, consider using an armourer’s wrench or punch set for assistance.

🎯 Step 3: Once the pins are removed, you can lift out the old trigger group from the lower receiver and discard it safely.

🎯 Step 4: Next, take Trigger out of its packaging and identify its components – binary sear spring, disconnector assembly, binary trigger assembly and hammer assembly – which should all come preassembled as one unit with three small hex screws holding them in place inside an aluminium housing plate.

🎯 Step 5: Place the Trigger gently into the lower receiver while ensuring that it fits snugly into place without any resistance or tightness when being inserted.

🎯 Step 6: Secure Trigger by inserting both retaining pins back into their original places and aligning them in such a way that they are flush against each other without causing any gaps or obstructions in between them once they are fully seated into place.

🎯 Step 7: Using drop-in parts (like springs or detents) replace any factory components that may have come with Trigger if necessary; otherwise proceed to test fire your firearm at a safe shooting range following all safety protocols before taking it out for use in real-world applications or situations where live ammunition is necessary for self-defence purposes.

FAQ 💡

Is it illegal to have a binary trigger?
Franklin Armory binary triggers are not currently illegal. However, it is important to check with your local laws and regulations before purchasing or using one. Some states have restrictions on the use of binary triggers, so it is always best to check with your local authorities before using one.
Are binary triggers legal in California?
🔴 Franklin Armory’s Binary Firing System (BFS) is not legal in the state of California.

🟡 The reason for this is that the BFS can result in a rapid succession of shots being fired, which is considered to be an unlawful discharge of a firearm in California. However, Franklin Armory does offer a “featureless” option for their rifles which are compliant with California’s laws.

How does Franklin's binary trigger work?

The “Franklin binary trigger” is a type of firearm trigger that allows a shooter to fire a semi-automatic rifle in a “binary” mode, meaning that the trigger will fire one round when pulled, and then fire another round when the trigger is released.

Here’s how it works:

🟨 When the shooter pulls the trigger, the trigger mechanism releases the hammer, which strikes the firing pin and fires the first round. However, unlike a standard trigger, the Franklin binary trigger does not rely on the shooter manually releasing the trigger to reset the hammer and firing pin.

🟨 Instead, the trigger mechanism itself has a secondary sear that catches the hammer as it moves forward after firing the first round. When the shooter releases the trigger, the secondary sear releases the hammer again, allowing it to strike the firing pin and fire another round.

🟨 This design allows for much faster firing rates than a traditional semi-automatic trigger, as the shooter can essentially fire two rounds with one pull-and-release of the trigger. It’s important to note, however, that binary triggers are heavily regulated in many jurisdictions and may be illegal to own or use in some places.

Do you need a full auto BCG for a Franklin binary trigger?

No, you do not need a full auto bolt carrier group (BCG) to use a Franklin binary trigger. A standard semi-automatic BCG is sufficient for use with a binary trigger.

🟦 The binary trigger system itself does not change the way the firearm operates mechanically, so the BCG will still function in the same way as it would with a standard trigger. The binary trigger mechanism simply adds an additional sear that catches the hammer after the first shot, allowing it to be released again when the trigger is released.

🟦 It’s important to note, however, that laws and regulations regarding firearm modifications and accessories can vary by jurisdiction. It’s always a good idea to check with your local laws and regulations before making any modifications to your firearm.

Is Franklin Armory's binary trigger good?

Franklin Armory is a well-known manufacturer of firearms and accessories, and its binary trigger has gained popularity among some firearm enthusiasts.

✅ The binary trigger allows for a faster rate of fire than a standard semi-automatic trigger, which can be beneficial in some shooting scenarios. It also allows for greater control and accuracy, as the shooter can time their shots more precisely.

✅ However, it’s important to note that the use of binary triggers is heavily regulated in many jurisdictions and may be illegal to own or use in some places. Additionally, the use of any firearm or firearm accessory carries inherent risks and requires proper training, safety precautions, and adherence to local laws and regulations.

Ultimately, whether or not Franklin Armory’s binary trigger is “good” depends on individual preferences and intended use. It’s important to thoroughly research and understand the risks and benefits before making any decisions about purchasing or using this or any firearm accessory.

Conclusion💥

The Franklin Armory Binary Trigger is a unique and innovative product that has been gaining popularity in the firearms community. This trigger system offers shooters several advantages, including faster shooting speeds, improved accuracy, and an enhanced level of safety. If you are interested in purchasing this trigger, be sure to do your research to find the best option for your needs. There are a number of different such trigers on the market, so it is important to compare products and read reviews before making a purchase. Thanks for reading!😀

If you have purchased the Binary Trigger from Franklin Armory, it’s important to note that the trigger does not come pre-assembled(((((. In order to install the new parts, you will need to disassemble the entire trigger group (wow) and carefully install the new components ( I was tired). It can be a time-consuming and challenging process, and some users may find it difficult or frustrating.

It’s worth mentioning that if you are fortunate enough to have purchased a trigger pack that already comes pre-installed with the binary trigger, you may be able to avoid the hassle of having to install the trigger yourself.

However, if you do need to install the binary trigger yourself, it’s important to carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions and take all necessary safety precautions. This may involve disassembling and reassembling various parts of the firearm, which can be a complex process.

As I embark on outfitting my rifle with new components, I’m planning to acquire a muzzle break, Titanium Nitride (TiN) or Nickel Boron (NiB) Bolt Carrier group, and an upgraded trigger.  I don’t know to pick up one of those franklin binaries or not.

Last summer, I had my first shooting experience in over 20 years when I went to the range with a friend. He brought along his 9mm pistol caliber carbine (PCC) equipped with a binary trigger. To say the least, I was thoroughly impressed by how well it performed.
Over the course of the day, we fired approximately 750 rounds with the binary trigger and experienced no malfunctions or issues. I was amazed by the fast rate of fire and precision it provided, and I felt like I had better control and accuracy over the firearm compared to a standard trigger.
Overall, my experience with the binary trigger left me with a positive impression. While I understand that firearm modifications and accessories come with inherent risks, I felt that the binary trigger was a well-made product that enhanced the shooting experience.
